Congratulations Class of 2011! We celebrated 9 amazing young people — Harry, Sean, Eliza, Nat, Miels, Michael, Antonio, Andrew and Wil on June 6th. Graduation was a very special occasion for our graduates and families and for all of us who have been with them throughout their time at Wolf.
While we discussed and planned the graduation event for many months, it is still hard for us to believe that the 9 of you are moving on. The class of 2011 marks the last class to have members who were with us at the JCC. Eliza and Antonio started at Wolf in our old building, and they are the last of the line in this chapter our history.
We acknowledge the parents of the graduates — Ted and Lily, Pam and Mike, Joannie and Steve, Cindy and Phip, Lisa, Gary, Mary and Michael, Ed and Evone, Mary and Eric, Dede and Bruce. Thank you for lending us your children during their time here, for having faith in us and trusting us — and for being true partners with us in your child’s education. We congratulate you and honor you — Your role in believing in and supporting your children helped sustain them for their time at Wolf.

Wolf Students Help Interim House
For a Community Service Project this year, the 5th graders collected toys, games, and books for Interim House, a local homeless shelter in Providence. Our students involved the whole Wolf community in their efforts, asking students and faculty to pitch in and help.
Grade 5 delivered over 7 large boxes of items and had the opportunity to visit the shelter and ask a lot of great questions like, “How long can a family stay here?” (six weeks) and “What kind of items do you need most? (silverware). The fifth graders are looking forward to another service learning project in the spring. Stay tuned!
Wolf Gets New Technology
Since literacy skills are the best foundation for school success we utilize a wide range of innovative approaches to ensure that our students become proficient, secure readers and competent writers. Technology is an indispensable part of our approach, and now, thanks to Nordson EFD, we have greatly enhanced our ability to offer creative technological strategies that foster skill development and independent work.
With a generous grant from Nordson EFD we recently acquired portable technology tools that provide audio support, text-to-speech features allowing students to hear words while following along on the screen, and eReaders. In addition, we were able to enhance our audio/digital library.
A huge thank you to Nordson EFD for investing in the students at Wolf!
Congratulations to the class of 2010!
On June 8, 2010, our eighth grade class graduated during an inspirational ceremony attended by family, friends, and Wolf supporters. Each of the eleven students were personally recognized for their accomplishments and commended for their hard work. The graduates were encouraged and congratulated in remarks made by Jessica Robins Miller, Head of School and Mark Pelson, Board Chair. As is Wolf tradition, the ceremony closed with the raising of flags designed by each graduate to represent their interests and personalities. The flags will remain in the Pelson Center as an enduring tribute to their time at Wolf. We wish our graduates continued success and happiness as they transition into a new phase of their lives!

Special thanks!
We are grateful to the Louise A. Shuster Fund of the Rhode Island Foundation for a recent grant to support professional development initiatives at the Wolf School.
As an independent school, that is also certified as a Rhode Island private special education school, Wolf has an ongoing need for overall staff training and technical assistance in order to keep current with special education theory, clinical issues, standards, and practices. The Shuster Fund grant enabled our faculty to participate in specialized trainings that increased their knowledge and understanding of our complex learners. Also, the grant helped to build the Wolf School’s capacity as an educational resource for the community and strengthen its organizational expertise in special education issues and best practices.
